Count Clement II meets Eskilera Band

Who would have thought that meeting the Eskilera Band will be attained that earlier and easily? I’m not saying I haven’t able to meet this band yet. But the thing is, “I’m talking about meeting the whole package of the group”, meaning, including the Manager, staffs, etc.

Rewind…

I’m pretty sure you are (now) familiar with this band named “Eskilera” since i posted an entry, a blog about them last March 20, 2010 (you can check the entry by clicking this link: https://clementdampal.wordpress.com/2010/03/20/skill-era/). Or I believe it is because this local band from Cagayan de Oro City is on its way to popularity.

Play…

I met this band personally last April 08, 2010 (Thursday Night) at Loreto’s Grill and Restaurant in which they’re having a gig.

So, what about it?

Well yeah, it’s not the “usual-meet-face-to-face” scenario of “me” meeting up “them” rather a “noteworthy acquaintance” . Why? because of the fact that I was being introduced by Pierre a.k.a. Marie (my fraternal sister, the band’s vocalist) to the band. Or should I say, I was being acquainted to the whole band.

To tell you honestly, I am way surprised because I never imagined, i never thought that I would met them personally and thank me for the blog entry I made about them. You should see what were the reactions and comments of them about me (and my blog entry, of course).

To start with, I was introduced by Pierre to the band. Her father (Jongco, my fraternal dad since he is a freemason too) was there too (of course, to support her girl). The next thing was, she acquainted me to Mr Bernie “Bitok-bitok” (the Manager of the band) in which did thank me for making an entry (a blog) about the band. He was like saying, “Oh, is this the guy? oh’, yeah sir, thanks for the blog. thanks a lot for it. It is totally nice. I’ll be looking forward to see you again. thanks.” (translated from Visayan dialect with emphasis) and I was like thinking, “Oh’, please don’t call me sir Mr Bernie. I’m just a blogger. I’m still a student (well yeah, it is for formality, i assume). like oh’, that is so nice to hear from someone who is a well-known”. and yeah, i replied to him like, “Oh’, its my pleasure to blog about your band. You don’t have to worry about it since I am willing to support the band.” He as well asked me, “how did you find out that the band is here?” (of course, Pierre was asking me too about it) “well, it is because of your fan page in Facebook”. i told them.  “Oh’, that’s nice”. he replied.

What about the band members?

Of course, I as well met them. . . Mark Amarga (Bass Guitar), Anthony Medina (vocals), Norman Sumaylo (Lead Guitar), and Jorim Sual (Drums). They were like saying, “So, you are the guy! (an asking statement like “You are the guy?”) the blogger”. Like, “thanks man for the entry you made about our band. It was totally nice, etc…etc…”. And I was like “yeah dude, I am the man. The man behind the blog. lmao”.

Funny though, they even read my statement shirt saying, “BIKTIMA AKO NG MGA TSISMOSO. GANDANG LALAKE KO, PINAGKAKAGULUHAN NA MAY ASIM PA”. It is way funny to think, actually. lmao

tsk. . . tsk. . . tsk. . .

So yeah, I am happy, really happy. indeed! because of it. My conversation with them was worth-remembering. Meeting them was far beyond my imagination since I was assuming they are too high to reach. And yeah, reality kicks me! My meet up with them was totally note-worthy. Nothing compares!

  14. I could say this is another real accomplishment of CDO – kudos to Mr. Bernie Bitok-bitok for having this advocacy. This is the kind of talent we need to get rid of our hypocrisy of shooing away local talents in favor of the much financed “national talents”. If given a good break this local band can go big time whom we can be proud of. This band is young, got good looks and really good pipes. IDK if we can compare them with MYMP or Freestyle but it’s obvious they have their own personality.
I tell fello CDO’ ians to be proactive in this advocacy instead of being maliciously reactive. Remember, this is an accomplishment and a talent that not everyone is endowed with… remember “positive thoughts yields bright outlook, negative creates self demise”.

    Great job freemasonry!
